How to use this online flip clock
This flip clock online needs no install and no account. Open it and it shows your local time immediately.
- Format: switch 12-hour or 24-hour, show or hide the flip clock with seconds, toggle AM/PM and the date line.
- Sound and size: add a soft tick per second with volume slider, drag digit size from compact to wall-readable.
- Sharing: Copy link bakes your colors, font and background into a URL.
Press F for fullscreen, H to hide controls. Double-click the clock works too. On iPhone, the page switches to a chrome-free view because Safari blocks element fullscreen.
02
Built to stay on the second
Each tick is scheduled with setTimeout to the next system-second boundary. No setInterval drift.
Switch tabs and it resyncs on return without replaying missed flips. Time and zone come from Intl.DateTimeFormat, so daylight saving follows the device database.
Only changed digits flip. Animation is 600 ms; prefers-reduced-motion gets a 150 ms crossfade instead.
03
Themes that stay readable
Six clock themes: Graphite, OLED Black, Midnight, Ember, Paper, Sand — plus twelve stage backgrounds including aurora, sunset, ocean, dot grid, orbs and OLED black. OLED Black drops glow and grain and holds digits at 75% to protect panels.
Burn-in guard shifts the clock a few pixels each minute and dims after 90 seconds idle. Turn it on in settings for shop windows and dashboards.

What a flip clock actually is
You know the look the second you see it: chunky number cards that snap down to reveal the next minute. The mechanism is called a split-flap display. It was refined in Italy in the mid-1950s — Remigio Solari's team at Solari di Udine built the famous Cifra 5 for railway stations and airports.
A decade later that station tech shrank onto the nightstand. Through the 1960s and 70s, brands like Panasonic, Sony and GE sold millions of bedside retro flip clock radios. This page is a digital flip clock version of the same idea — rebuilt for the browser, without the buzzing motor.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get a flip clock on my computer screen?
Open realflipclock.com in any modern browser — no download or signup needed on Windows, Mac or Linux. Pick Clock, Timer, Stopwatch, Pomodoro or World clock, press F for fullscreen, enable Keep screen awake, and leave the tab open as a desk display or second-monitor clock.
Is there a free online flip clock?
Yes — this flip clock is completely free with no signup or install. You get the live clock with seconds, world clock, countdown timer, stopwatch, Pomodoro timer and aesthetic themes at no cost. Bookmark the page and it is always ready.
How do I make the flip clock full screen?
Press F or use the Fullscreen button. Cards expand to fill your monitor, press Esc or F again to exit. Combine fullscreen with Hide controls (H) and Keep screen awake for a clean desk display, classroom projector or overnight bedside clock.
Will the screen stay on while the clock is running?
Yes, enable Keep screen awake in Settings. It uses the Wake Lock API to block dimming during desk displays, projection or overnight use. The lock releases when you close the tab. If your browser lacks Wake Lock, also set system sleep to never.
Is my data stored or uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser — preferences stay in localStorage, photos never leave your device. No account or cloud sync exists. Clearing site data removes everything. Block network after load and all tools keep working offline.
